Our Sister Companies
Guide by Cell
Guide by Cell is the parent company of our Give by Cell and Train by Cell divisions. In 2004, we began working with museums, cultural and charitable institutions to create engaging, educational mobile audio tours. We strive to aid these organizations in enhancing the guest experience with simple, familiar technologies, and engaging with their target audience through a mobile phone. We’ve since expanded our services to provide text message and mobile web solutions to a growing list of organizations, among them zoos, aquariums, universities, libraries, charities, national parks, historical sites and performing arts centers.

“Train by Cell was very helpful in preparing more than 200 volunteers to support the Blanton Museum of Art’s celebration of its 50th anniversary. I worked with colleagues in visitor services to provide basic information about our volunteer needs and expectations. The structure provided—and outstanding customer support—made it fast and intuitive to put together instructions, images, and Youtube videos. I really enjoyed creating the content, and our volunteers did a great job helping us host some 10,000 visitors!
Although I don’t consider myself particularly “tech-savvy,” I actually enjoyed working with Train by Cell to prepare volunteers for our museum’s recent 50th anniversary celebration. The process was intuitive– easy to change and update, right to the last minute. I tried to make it very visual and fun to use, adding photos of staff and works of art that inspired the hands-on activities. The Quiz function was also really fun—but it made it clear that we expected our volunteers to show up informed and ready for the big day!
Asking volunteers to come to the museum for an orientation session adds significant time and effort, while getting the relevant information on their cell phone resulted in a much higher percentage of volunteers who understood our needs and expectations. Train by Cell made it easy for me to communicate information about a complicated community celebration in which we hosted 10,000 visitors in twelve hours. Now I’m thinking about how it can support our docent training course!”
